Why cheap out on crappy tires. Talk to Anand at MyTires. He has decent winter tires as low as $100.00/tire inc. taxes. Whats an extra $20/tire. Chump change!

Oh by the way, I run Blizzak MZ01's on my Talon, stick like glue!:D

There are a number of good winter tires at reasonable prices, it really depends on what car you have, what size you need and what kind of driving you do.

The Kumho I'ZEN KW11 is a great tire for the money...I put 'em on my Mom's car :D

Hankook W400's have treated me well the last couple years.

Talk to Rob@TW, he'll help you choose the right tires.

Why even bother buying crappy winter tires? That's like flying halfway to Mexico for spring break. What's the point?

The 4 little squares of rubber are the only parts of your car touching the ground, and keeping you from sliding into ditches or guardrails. It's kind of important that they are good quality.

If you're going to do something, do it right. Michelin Arctic Alpins.

I'm a big fan of the Bridgestone Blizzaks series of winter tires.
I've used the MZ02's, WS15's and WS50. Perfect for this type of weather!! But remember, you still have to adhere to the road conditions and drive responsibly!!!:)

I agree  Who would want "crappy" winter tires?!?! There are however many winters tires on the market that cost less than the most expensive models (240 Snowsport, Pilot Alpins, etc) and still work at least 95% as well. It isn't "rocket science", but buy many people still get it wrong ;)

Both the Kumho and Blizzak's are considered to be outright crap by the latest reviews here in Scandinavia. I posted a thread on it - "Winter Tire Reviews".

But why is the reviewer talking about testing tires that are seven years old ??

I have Blizzak WS50's and think they are great.

They were reference tires. They used two 7 year old (but unusued) tires to see how they stack up against brand new makes and models.

You have to be careful buying used winter tires, though. The edges on the blocks round off, and then the tires are no good, even with lots of tread depth left.......

Winter tires, even when left unused, lose their elasticity and grip over the years, that is another thing to consider.

There isn't really any point in buying used, as one will have to settle for much less grip for a shorter period time, too. With new, you get outstanding traction (relatively speaking) and for a much longer time.

I guess it is better than some crap all-seasons however.
