On August 20, 2002 at 14:20 Calgary EMS responded to a
single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle. Upon
arriving to Sandarac Dr. NW the responding crew found a lone
male patient, the driver and only occupant of the motorcycle.
This patient had apparently lost control of his motorcycle
and struck a sign post sustaining fatal head injuries, he had
been thrown approximately 50 feet from the motorcycle. A
bystander, a medical doctor was onscene and had begun CPR on
the patient. The attending EMS crew assessed the patient and
pronounced him dead onscene. Calgary Police Service Traffic
division is conducting the investigation.

:( Bikes are damn dangerous, thats for sure.

My dad's a surgeon so he tells me stories all the time about kids coming in all mangled from bike accidents in order to deter me from getting a road bike.

I was watching a show on car safety and they showed that airbags in bikes can make a big difference in many collisions. Do any manufacturers have airbags for them? It'd be nice to see some safety measures going into bikes. I had a dream last night I ran head on into a tree riding a black kawi :thumbsdow

Not too many places on a bike where you could put an airbag. And I dont know how much help it would be if you're flying off the bikes anyways if you crash. Some situations I can see it helping a bit, but it could also be fatal and throw you off the bike even more so.
