I work tech support, and on many blackberry forums I see an option to check a box that says your issue has been resolved and answered in this thread...
Perhaps it would be a good way of avoiding reposts and also (obviously) a great way to confirm what steps you took to resolve the problem...
For example:
Post one (OP):
My car is excessively loud, even at idle
Post two:
Check exhaust/muffler for holes/damage
Post three (OP):
Muffler has a hole rusted through it. replaced with new one, resolved issue.
----
At this point, the user could have the option of 'resolving' the thread and then optionally linking to which post contained the resolution.
Just an idea!
