Hello all, i was just wondering, my gas tank lid says on it "fill only Regular gas" i was wondering can i put premium in it? the regular is 87 octane then there's 89 and then 91 i don't really remember how much each of them has but can i fill better then 87 octane in it? i got a 98 jetta thanks

You can fill with premium if you wish, altho it most likely wont make a difference. performance cars run premium because of higher compression ratios, to combat detonation

Is it the 2.0L or N/A 1.8L? If so its a waste to put anything but regular in it.

only put regular in! ur not gonna see any difference with 91/92

It is a 2.0L but isn't 91 or what not octane cleaner? then the normal 87?

Its the 2.0 N/A. Dont waste your money, you will not gain anything, and it may even run worse and reduce fuel mileage.

Everyone is right. If your car doesn't require premium, you will gain no benefit whatsoever.

plus it costs an extra dime a ltr, it sucks having to use premo..

but yeah use reg 87 your car is tuned for it thus being the best grade for it

It wont be cleaner for the engine as you will inhibit combustion slightly with a higher ocatne...plus higher octance fuel tends to sit around alot longer in the UG tanks.

If you want to clean your fuel system, change the fuel filter after youve run a bottle of fuel system cleaner.
