Anyone update their phone today?

pretty good, I like the land scape texting, copy and paste, and finally MMS, Now I don't have to email someone a photo then text them tell let them know I emailed them a photo lol.
I'm also a big fan of the updated Safari, it's much faster now.

i've been using the gold master for almost 2 weeks now. it's pretty good. i just can't wait until friday to jailbreak. i cannot live without winterboard or statusnotifier.

I like it so far... the copy/paste is nice, and the recent calls page telling home vs mobile, and the edit for texting convos is amazing, delete what you don't want, or can forward massive amounts quickly =) I will have to put some more testing later tonight after work

On friday the jailbreak tools should be readily available and they are also releasing ultrasnow. You can probably find them somewhere now but I am waiting until friday. Finally, an unlock solution for those of us with new basebands and new bootloaders :D

I have played with a couple phones that were updated, the new features are neat I guess. Most of what I do on my phone is with jailbroken apps anyways though, so no update yet for me.

For those who can't get internet tethering to work, I called rogers and they said that it's not supposed to work until Friday (even thought my friend called early in the day, just after the OS was released and they made it work for them), but I didn't want to wait and used the instructions here, works like a champ

how come whenever im syncing with itunes and im trying to do something else, itunes pops up?

its annoying, ive cancelled my backup or sync so many times because im trying to type a message to someone and itunes pulls itself up while im typing

:rolleyes: umm what I meant was that when you "restore" to a new firmware, iTunes will ask you to activate your phone, since the original iPhones were on AT&T. With the new 3.0, if u were jailbroken and unlocked, the unlock stays but the jailbreak will be gone requiring you to "activate", which cannot be done with a rogers sim (or inactive at&t sim). If you hit the upgrade button and not the restore button, the activation might stay but since u had to be jailbroken in the first place, u will lose about 500mb of space.....

I guess I will wait to make a custom fw, since I will jb anyways.

Oh and here is another good website for tethering, just browse to it from your iPhone and download the required files....

I jailbroke my phone when I first got it because I was using the turbosim or whatever. qwkpwn allows you to unlock without jb. Mine isn't jb...I have no springboard, summerboard winterboard, doucheboard whatever....

I agree that most themes/other junk are ghetto, but if I have the ability to change the background from plain black to something I like, why not right?

Plus, things like cycorder (vid recording), mms apps for 2G iPhones, add more functionality to an already great device.

Oh and another thing which upsets me is that apple only allowed a percent battery for iPhone 3GS....WTF!

The battery icon in the upper-right corner shows the battery level or charging status. You can also display the percentage of the battery charge (iPhone 3G S only).

Yeah I guess ghetto was the wrong word, some of you hyper-sensitavos were bound to get all defensive. I mean that a lot of the apps through jailbreak were shit, took up a lot of memory and jb caused weird glitches with my iPhone.

Call it what you want, ghetto was what came to mind.

It's pretty dumb that only the 3GS has percentage battery indicators though!

On 2.2.0 I had the app that showed percentage (Jailbroken). Maybe that is why it works for me?

just like rogers disabled the touchscreen typing on the htc dream.

i was so pissed off when I got my HTC Dream from rogers cause I've been using a T-Mobile one with Cupcake for a long time... but a 10 minute hack brought back the new keyboard...

I'll update my 3G today, and see what its like, but I don't think it'll sway me away from android...

just tested this on mine, i also had it before on jailbreak, it keeps it even in the restore of 2.2 and then also in the upgrade of 3.0 however when in 2.2 the "%" symbol was not there and the battery icon wasnt visible either....kinda weird, same as your pic though.

Spotlight is the best thing so far, love being able to find stuff right away...
shake to shuffle is not bad, copy past is cool, shake to undo and redo is awsome.

Sure it does. It shows up under General->Usage ->Cellular Network Data. I just reset the stats, and checked to be sure, and it shows up just fine. I do notice that you have to back out of the screen that shows the usage and then go back to it, as it's not a real-time meter to keep track for you though.

the above software is for unlocking/activating/jailbraking (ability to have wallpaper and themes, etc.)

oh and on another note, anyone using the jailbreak, download an app like boss setting where u can turn off ssh access, it saves a bit of battery life and with the implementation of autofill in safari, your passwords will be safer....although i wouldnt advise storing passwords to banking sites, etc anyways.

You're not alone, if you do a quick search apparently a lot of people have this problem.

apparently the new firmware fixes a lot of the 3g connection problems.
I used to find it nearly impossible to hold a 3G connection, now my connection seems to be perfectly fine.

I saw that way too many times now. I come across it using the app called Lockdown from Cydia. I loved that app and it worked brilliantly but not after updating. You can set locks to individual apps with it but when you actually try to open the locked app and put in the password instead of opening it gives that safe mode error. Maybe the app just not compatible with 3.0.

I called Fido about this, mine isn't working either. All they could say was back it up and restore to the backup. Haven't done this yet though.

Those with the battery icon versus the battery percent remaining number. Try clicking on it. It Might switch back and fourth by touching it.
