Hello boys,
I am considering buying very clean E32 1994 740i (to be imported from Japan). It's a good deal price wise, but I am thinking I want to drive this beauty, not just collect it.
I'd appriciate any input on maintenance, fuel cons, very big size!, resale problem, etc.
cheers,

Get the 850i if your gonna get them from japan. Way cooler and rare. Although with old BMW, reliability will be an issue.
Best advice is .. dont touch those cars ..
I have seen many many 850i from japan .. under $10K to buy .. over $15K to fix .. :banghead:
Still, ~ $25K total .. not that bad ..

:werd: I would stay away from anything with the OBD 0 5.0L V12 engine, they're nightmares...

If you're going to buy an E34, which are great cars, don't but a 540i. Those engines had major problems with cylinder bore wear due to the metal (Nikasil) not being compatible with North American gasoline's high sulpher content.
Buy an E34 535i, it's a 6-cylinder, but almost as quick and no cylinder bore problems... and make sure it's a manual.

^^ Exactly, unless you can verify that the motor has been replaced with a new block, which may be difficult since it is in a different country, stay away. Same motor in the 740 as well.
735 or 535i, M30 bulletproof motors, cheap to fix, easy to work on.
