so this notebook is just "acting up" or completely dead? I might be interested depending on what the symptoms are.

"acting up" is a correct description. i believe something is over heating, video card, because it will restart it self after a little while. i was able to do a complete fresh install of windows so i know the hard drive is fine, as i have had it in an enclosure to use it with as well.
