Flames - Leafs is such a weak rivalry. I personally think that Vancouver or Edmonton would be a better choice.

Flames vs Oilers, or Canucks games are fucking boring. We get too many of them as it is.

Oilers have already played in the Winter Classic so I don't think they would be getting another one any time soon.

Toronto will draw a national audience for CBC.

Playing the Canucks wouldn't make the game a special one-off game considering we play them enough as a divisional rival.

It's just going to suck seeing all those Maple Leaf Jerseys

T'was more fun watching the Leafs when they had Sundin, Tucker, McCabe, etc.

Anyone know when you can purchase tickets?

I want tickets!

I wonder when they will be on sale

Before you guys get too excited and start lining up for tickets, realize it's all talk right now. In fact, up until yesterday, the NHLPA hadn't even heard of such a proposal:

I think the new team Burke is building will be a ton of fun to watch I'm really looking forward to what he's up to. Bozak was a great sign, moving up his draft pick on his list to do will be awesome.

I agree on the rivalry though... Never made sense doing Montreal / Edmonton... Should have always been Toronto / Montreal, or Edmonton / Calgary.

Hahaha no matter how much you guys hate the Leafs, it's always so much fun to be in the atmosphere when the two play, whether it's in the saddledome or the bar.

Last year when the Leafs beat the Flames in Toronto I was at Schanks and cheered massively when Sundin got his 500th in OT. I got shit thrown at me and was laughing so hard, tons of fun.

This year I got ripped apart when they played like garbage and got there asses handed to them in Calgary. Again, had a great time. It's one of those rivalrys where the whole city hates you, other then half the saddledome that's leafs fans. But always a great time.

Then when the Leafs beat Calgary what was 8-2 in Toronto I just laughed at my friends, because a putrid team beat a playoff team. Mini-Battles won.

This would be much more exciting if it weren't for the fucking Leafs...

That was a Cinderella type moment. A perfect way to get your 500th goal, I even had to clap a little.

Hahaha RIGHT! I forgot the Flames made it interesting, because it was 4-0, I rubbed it in against my flames friend, then right away it was 4-4. Haha either way Leafs score 8 on you and you've got a problem.

No shocker there. As much as we love our Flames, we just aren't a big crowd drawing team for the league even as the tail end of a double header.

Besides, I'm sure Bettman would rather give that opportunity to the Coyotes that he loves so much
