I'm in the market for a mountain bike, new or used, with a $1,000 budget. I'm not sure what style of bike I need so I'm looking for some input.

I:
- Like riding fast single track
- Climb
- Won't be doing drops more then 4'
- Ride fish creek and Power Face
- Am 6'-2", 185lbs

I've only owned hardtails in the past, but the idea of a dual suspension bike sounds good for the roots I often deal with, plus I'd like to pump the bike of rises when going quick.

Basically, I don't want DH bike, but something with a little travel in the rear, relatively light, can climb and won't be high maintenance.

Thanks!

Edit: Of these used bikes, do any seem to fit the bill and be a decent price:

I don't need a downhill bike. The specialized enduro looks cool. I'll see what I can find for pricing. Edit: hmm, it's out of my price range.

If you go to the "Bike Shop" a guy named Joel will help you with what you want. I went in last Saturday and I told him what I wanted to spend and he gave me options, I tested the bikes that fit me the best and I was out of there with a bike.

Pinkbike also FTW after you done your research.

Bow has bike clearance i think of the 08 models.. check them out. Also Cyclepath. I bought my Giant Yukon at Pedalheads and with those guys they include 2 years of unlimited service. You can take your bike in to get tuned as much as you want within 2 years, I also believe they include wear and tear.

2003 Norco Sasquatch in your second ad is a DH bike.

Defn not the Norco sasquatch. Your best bet would either be the santacruz (might be a girls bike :)). I am bias, but the stumpjumper you listed would be the best by far. It climbs like a goat and will keep up to any XC bike on the way down. I would check out bowcycle classifieds as well. Good luck!!

Bought my wife a new bike today, hit just about every store south of Kensington (stock is low).

Bike Shop was brutal - it takes four staff to admire a Pashley but no one was free to help us. I doubt those kids even ride.

Sorry to hear about you bad experience with Bike Shop, I didn't have a problem and the staff when I went were pretty great.
