Hey guys , i am new to a used car...trying to find much info as possible....i am viewing autotrader.ca and by chance find the market place here too...i am basically looking for a 5000 to 8000 used car for school at U of C...and i found that in autotrader.ca, best bet was honda accord coupe, like 1998 to 2001 model with 150000 km on it for under 9000...not sure if its worth it...cuz civic and corolla will be just as much...was trying to get a mazda protege 5 2003 with 60000 kms from a friend in edmonton, but she's not gonna sell it...:(. So I am in the market for a used car.

I will be using this car to get to university and daily commute ...something fuel efficient as well as ok looking and fun to drive...any ideas or info will be appreciated...thanks

Also any good dealers with used car sale you would recommend? Where to look for good used cars? Carproof is better over Carfax right? And also I need advice on where to get a good mechanic to do the inspection as well as look for frame damage. Thanks a lot guys.

I too would be interested in this thread, a good mechanic is needed for a Honda I am currently shopping around for in the Calgary area.

^ Probably this guy. Hes a Certified Honda tech, and probably the most honest guy you'll ever see. Peter is a really nice Philipino guy that I've taken my cars to time and time again.

I worked with Peter at a Honda dealer. He is a stand up guy and takes great pride in his work.

oh that Accord is an excellent choice. My friend has one and its a very nice car all around.

Having said that, AutoTrader is mostly dealers who are over charging. Good deals could be found on kijiji and what not but you just gotta be cautious and get inspection done.
Here's a quick one I found that looks pretty good.

Thanks guys for the info. Yeah new to the used cars market..Hope to get a decent car for a good price...Yeah kinda figured out that autotrader is a bit over priced with all those dealers.

Black13, the link isn't working or no longer available :( can you post it again if the deal is still available? Thanks

some of the cars are already sold :( and the low mileage 1998 honda accord coupe, they are asking for 11,995 for it:(

and some of the protege 5 sold as well...

I am checking this accord from a dealership on autotrader.ca:

But now sure if its a good idea to buy from a used car lot or dealership....Anyone has experience from Gregs Auto on the corner of Ogden Rd and 16A Street SE? Do they have good reputation in the business? I have read and heard a lot of bad things about this kind of dealership :(
