Quick question...

Looking at buying a damaged vehicle; it's a company truck, their fault, apparently they never tried to claim it's loss/damage against insurance... The accident was 4 months ago, carfax says it's still active (not salvage).

Is there any way to be really sure that it wont have a "this vehicle has had it's status changed to salvage" letter from alberta transportation in the future? Not really interested in having to deal with a writeoff inspection...

Thanks in advance,

Andy

if they never claimed it thru insurance it wont be a salvage

But how can you be sure / cover your ass? They said all the right things; which is really making me wonder...

Get the VIN # and go to the registry, that will tell you what you want to hear

But the vehicles status aren't changed until the claim is settled - mine was roughly 4 months from signing papers and getting a cheque - to getting the letter from alberta transportation telling me its status had changed...

It's got an active status right now, but that doesn't necessarily mean the paperwork isn't sitting on someone's desk to have that changed...
