Hey just got off the phone with southgate. Took my equinox in for a semi annual inspection and oil change and im going to walk out of there 700 bucks less. They charged me 312 to install a belt tensioner 200 for the serpintine belt and 50 for the air filter plus the oil change itself. What would be the price of this if i were to go to a shop around town? how much could i have saved haha for next time i suppose.

You could probably save some money by going to an instant lube type of place to change your oil, because $138 for an oil change is way too much for an Equinox.

where I work we charge 49.95 for lube, oil , filter, 40point inspection tire rotation, brake inspection.
probably would save about 10-15% on the rest of the work at a aftermarket shop

Aftermarket parts are not as expensive and still as good as O.E.M
4.5 litres of oil and a filter plus enviro fee's plus g.s.t about 94.00
That is with synthetic oil.
