For those of you who have been hounded by a collection agency that does work for Impark, you'll be happy to read this:

***SNIP***

A former Calgary collection agent is expected to testify in her own defence today after allegedly using threatening tactics while trying to extract overdue parking ticket fines.

Nicole Chriqui appeared in a provincial court trial Wednesday with her co-accused former employer, Gateway Collections Inc., to face nine counts of breaching the Alberta Fair Trading Act.

The investigation was launched in October 2002 following complaints from debtors, who alleged phone threats had been made by Gateway employees trying to secure payment for fines levied by Imperial Parking.

The alleged threats included possible charges of trespassing, the ability to affect credit ratings and possible lawsuits.

The act prohibits collectors from making false statements to a debtor while collecting the debt.

Gateway is facing 11 other similar charges.

i recieved an impark ticket beside cowboys over a year ago while I was on the St Paddy's day pub crawl. Somehow it fell off my windshield and landed on the ground :dunno:. Nobody has ever called me. It bothers me.

if its really true that credit cant be affected, how come rage2 was so adamant that his credit rating was brought down when applying for his mortgage?

i had a phone call from them, they said they were going to press charges against me and take me to court, i asked if she was a lawyer representing imperial parking and when she told me she wasn't i hung up the phone. i don't think they should be allowed to do that.

lol, and that is why this one lady is being charged and is in court today :) They can take you to small claims court, but worse case scenario you will be forced to pay the maximum daily rate at the lot you got you "ticket". Hardly worth it for them to take you to court.

Now... if you have unpaid tickets and they have it on file...........

and you park in their lot again and you do not have a visilbe ticket....

They can tow you.

So it will be you against 'cliffs towing' at that point.

Because this was from like 8 years ago. Things might've changed since then.

they have to call the city officers and shit..so by the time they're towing it ull probley be there..and if u get there when they're towing it, u can order them 2 put it down or you can charge them
