Fast, fun, and unique turbo car- I’d like to sell my ‘83 Celica GTS 5 speed hatchback. This car was originally sold in Edmonton by Sun Toyota. I am the second owner, having bought it bone stock in 1999. It has never been in a collision. Since I’ve owned it, it has never seen winter. Never smoked in. I have performed the following mods myself-

Factory power windows and locks installed
CD player and speaker upgrade
Short throw shifter
Custom pillar pods with Autometer boost and fuel pressure gauges
Supra rear independent suspension swap with 3.73 LSD diff and disc brakes
Polyeurethane suspension bushings
KVR Carbon fiber brake pads
Bosch H4 headlights
‘85 Supra hatch
Engine swap- 1986 22RTE turbo engine, completely rebuilt with NEW cylinder head in ‘03. Crane 0012 (stage 2) cam, ported and port matched head and intake, Garrett GT28R ball bearing turbo on custom ceramic coated manifold, custom 2 ½” exhaust with turbo muffler, Nissan intercooler, 440cc injectors, Mallory adjustable fuel pressure regulator, Holley/Walbro high-pressure fuel pump, Centerforce Dual/Friction clutch
Megasquirt programmable EFI with Megaview display
Innovate LC-1 wideband O2 sensor
Rebuilt starter and alternator
Optima red top battery
New June/ ‘09- Wheel bearings, KYB GR-2 shocks and struts, KYB upper strut mounts, KVR Carbon fiber rear brake pads, all brake hoses, inner tie-rod ends, right ball joint, all followed by a 4 wheel alignment.
New April/ ‘09- 16x8 XXR 513 rims with Bridgestone Potenza RE01-R tires

In 2007, at 10 psi and with less cam, the car dyno’d at 194 rwhp and 247 lb/ft. It ran a 14.707 at Castrol raceway in the same trim. The engine has been meticulously maintained and is in excellent shape, with many miles left in it.

The chassis is very solid, the body has some typical rusting in the rockers and rear quarters. Not bad for it’s age. There are a few minor dents here and there from over the years. The paint is original. The odometer shows 236,xxx km. As with any ongoing project, there are a few minor mechanical issues- there’s an oil leak on the front of the engine (I have a gasket set for it), the trans is loud and the internal speedo gear has failed ( I have a replacement tranny, just gotta install it), diff seal leaks (have a replacement….).

I’ve done about all I can do with this car short of tearing it down and starting over. I have disclosed every flaw, there’s nothing to hide. NO TEST PILOTS. I’d like to sell and start a new project, but I’m not desperate, so NO lowballing. I will discuss offers, but if I have to give it away, I’ll keep it. Possible trades include clean GM G-body (Malibu, Monte, Cutlass, GP, or Regal) or Firebird/Camaro project.

Asking price is $6000
