I figured I mine as well post the project or about half of it, (that's how far I've gotten) DETAILS: This is the plan/most of the parts I already have.

1986 FC rx7
302 SBF over sized pistons to be become a 306.
Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads and complete valve train.
Edelbrock intake
Edelbrock 750 carb (still need)
Mallory Distrubitor
MSD 6al (rev limiter yay) (still need)
Accel super coil
E303 Cam
Equal length headers.
It's going to run a turbo 2 RX diff good for 500rwhp, and a Mustang t5 tranny and clutch setup.
Turbo 2 Big brakes already on the car

The plan is around 350rwhp and over 400ft/lbs at the wheels in a 2500-2600lbs car. That's without nitrous, I want to push around 500rwhp on a 150-200 shot of nitrous if I get bored. The aluminum heads alone saved me over 100lbs in weight. I bought the car for $400 bucks, and got the swap kit for 500 bucks locally. The motor has 0 kms on it and I'll have to suffer through ring break in.

Pics are uploading on photobucket at the moment.

UPDATE!!!

Got some more of the motor stuff figured out, and a ridiculous 800 bucks later, I have a solid hydrolic clutch setup (YAY NO cable style clutch for meee)

A few things on the motor still need to be painted and bolted up, but I put most of everything together and checked for clearance issues and not a single problem except my front sway bar will be touching my oil pan. :(

Not a big deal, I just have to relocate it a inch forward, I'm amazed at how well and snug everything fits!

This isn't done yet, gauges are mounted but the GPS will lay in the metal more when I get my backing plate made up,

ahhhh piston engines in rx7's hehehe. I just love hating those...As much as I do love hating them though, it must be fin having that kind of power with a big engine in the rx7 though hehe.

Big but lighter then the rotary that was in there! The entire top end of that motor is aluminum and titanium (valves, springs ect.) Plus the amount of stuff I took out for the rotary to run was insane! Two coil packs, a huge oil cooler, accessory's everywhere for that tiny engine to even run. Should be the same if not a little less then the motor that was in it. (With no power steering or AC anymore) should be fun with 400ft/lbs in a 2600lbs car.

It's called like VHT Night Shade, I got it from auto value. To get your lights to look new like that I recommend sanding them like i did. With 1000-2000 grit wet and dry.

Just curious, but why not put something more important than GPS in the middle of the gauge cluster? Seems odd to have such a critical place occupied by GPS just so you can find the nearest starbucks or w/e

Because it is the most important, the GPS isn't used so much as to find things, but as posted in one of my pics it has a large read out of my speed, tripometer ect. There is no way to make a ford T5 work with the mazda speedo, so I just made a custom gauge cluster with a GPS with a large speed readout so I still would be able to know how fast I was going. :)

Still not done, just mostly pop riveted on for now, then I will bondo it to look seamless with the hood.

Also started work on my MSD and coil brackets, I was going to hid them but then wanted to show them off.

hmm sure it was free, you know they make smaller tachs that come with a shiftlight ya know.

And don't worry about the dsm, you have to wait on all good things. Ohh and I'll have a kool little surprise for you soon :)

did u use a gps for the centre as a speedometer?

I like the way it looks!

epp01
03-12-2010, 12:53 AM
^^^ Yes I did....

Ran into a big problem today, filled her full of fluids, put the oil in no leaks.. put the coolant in, BIG ass leak. It's comes from the top right timing cover gasket to block, this gasket was "torqued" from the engine shop but I guess not. I tried torquing it up as much as I could but there was still a leak coming from that area without the car even running. I'm amazed at how easy it was to take the pump off in the car. I got the pump and all the timing cover off besides the harmonic balancer off in around 30 minutes. I didn't have a remover tool or the new gasket kit so that comes tommorow.

Typical Ford.. not even running and it's ALREADY leaking something. :D

I got my tach working and finally opened her up a bit, at 60km/h in second gear at 3,500rpm both tires broke loose at around half throttle. I guess 205's on the back don't like torque LOL.

The car is sitting in the exhaust shop as I speak, I'll take some more video's once she's got the exhaust on her.

I'm not sure but at 110km/h I'm doing around 2400rpm. First gear is very very short, second is pretty short too.

I sold my 1g talon and bought a 2g which should run 12'S like my 1g did.

As some as you guys know I had the motor on my rex seize up and it sounded like a really bad spun main bearing (BoostedBlue REALLY knows the sound) anyways, turned out to be a seized oil pump from a small peice of metal that some how came from no where, bypassed the screen and jamed the pump. The picture of the rod is supposed to be like the one beside it. Straight... well the pictures speak for themselfs.

K so after a summer of good fun and some how burning up through 2 clutchs?! (I think my slave cylinder setup is fucked some how I'll look into it.) I'm going to a hole new build this winter. Fast time I could get to date was a 13.91 @ 104mph spinning through the gears. Motor pictures from this year:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v606/KingofSpades/HPIM0023.jpg

Plans include

331 stoker kit,
New transmission to handle 6,000+ rpm
150 shot of nitrous,
WAY bigger cam, stronger push rods,
New roller rockers,

Hoping to hit some where around 300-350 wheel before the spray, my last motor has a restricting factor in it that didn't get me the horsepower I wanted. I'm guessing it was the cam, I never checked it or changed it just buddy said it was a "stage 2 cam" and now I don't believe him.
