Everyone seems to think that the only fourth gen GLI VW is the 2004.5-2006.5 1.8T version w/ the body kit and 18" BBS rims. Do some research before you slam the car. I assure you this is infact a GLI.

yea straight up dude... my bad

question then. Why did vw decide not to put the commonly known GLI style into the 2003?

Not sure why they didn't back in '03. Maybe to differentiate one over the other. For that matter why did they decide to change the engines half way through the year for the same model?

If i had to guess; they probably had it conceptualized back in '03, missed the bus on the 04' turn around from prototype to production (which would explain the low production #'s on the '04) and then re-released it half way through the year. At the same time VW was planning on releasing the MKV jetta in NA for '05. However, the MKV GLI wasn't commercially available until '06.5.

To tell you the truth, I like the styling of the later models. The body syling was done quite tastefully. Regardless, everyone knows it's not the body kit that makes the car, it’s what’s under the hood that counts. Not to say that the later model isn't bad ass, cause it IS! But so is this one!

BTW $16000 isn't written in stone, i'm motivated to sell the car.
Offers are more than welcome.
