Im looking for something that I can plug into my homephone jacks and connect to using my cellphones Bluetooth and then be able to use a homephone (cordless phones) plugged into the jacks. I dont have home any homephone sevice and would like the convenience off being able to use a handset other than my cellphone when Im at home.

Anyone using anything they recommend?

This is kinda what Im looking for:

Id like to hear some first hand recommendations and Id like to find something local in Calgary.

(obviously way pricey and not at all what you need but worth a laugh)

Reading that review you linked, it's an intriguing product. I too use my cell phone exclusively, in lieu of a landline. It's appealing to think i could place cordless handsets throughout the house and have them linked to my cellphone.

I'm curious to hear what other people recommend or have tried.

update for anybody interested in a product like this...

http://www.londondrugs.com/Cultures/en-US/Product+Detail/Electronics.htm?BreadCrumbs=Electronics;Electronics;Telephone%20Fax;Cordless%20Phones;GE%20DECT%20Dual%20Handset%20%20Cordless%20Phone%20-%20Black%20-%20TC28127FE2&Catalog=Electronics&Category=Cordless%20Phones&ProductID=3007655&ProductTab=3

I bought this from London drugs the other day. Provides the same functionality as the xlink plus or whatever by docking two phones and mating with a landline.

No distinct rings for each cell phone docked, and it turns out the batteries used with the handsets SUCK.

Returned it after a day, the cordless handsets would always die and seemed very poor quality.

Thanks. I was intrigued that almost gave that a try. Safe me time knowing that it blow. I wish Panny or Uniden would do something similar.

I got a GE one from the Staples clearance table a few months ago. Doubt they have any left tho.

There are still 3 left on the clearance rack at the 32ave staples.

are they worth owning, in your opinion? are they the same models as I described above?

The batteries in the phones I tried from london drugs were horrid. I was hoping it was just an aberration in one of them but both of them seemed extremely low quality. Even the sales guy did not speak very highly of the GE phones.

The one I'm talking about plugs inline with your phone line, so you can use any phone you want.

Just hooked mine up (finally)... really impressed with it.

Bluetooth range reached everywhere in my house.

To dial out on the bluetooth device you have to dial #1# (or #2# for the second paired device), wait for the dialtone, then dial your number with a # to end it. Otherwise it will pass through to the connected landline. Even if you don't have a landline plugged in you have to do this.

i use xlink, and have given 4 of them as gifts to family, i love them, and they're local so you can even pick up to avoid shipping.

i use xlink to avoid having a land line, i just have a shitty old razr that is plugged in 100% of the time and linked for my house phone, then myself and the wife have ours linked, we walk down the street and it's linked, wife leaved hers in her purse, i generally throw mine on my desk and forget about it.
