They get usually cost on the cars and trips and wholesale on the crappy consolations prizes.

However they barely need it because the revenue frmo tickets sold far exceeds the cost of the prizes.

Can't get to the link, at work. What's the cost per person for this group buy and would it be a group split of the prize? or just a cheaper way to get a ticket for oneself and you get what you get?

Cheaper way to get a ticket is all. I don't want to engage in a fight to the death over sharing a Gallardo :) The only way I'd do a split prize is if I knew everybody personally, but I've met only a handful of people on here, so no dice.

For 8 tickets, it's $525, or $65.63 each, rather than the $100 singles.

Prizes aren't as grand as some years. No Koenigsegg or Mercedes Mclaren. But a Gallardo (I bet its just the basic Gallardo, not an LP560-4 like in the picture) is nothing to sneeze at.

Hey, sorry for zoning out in this whole group buy thing.

Here's the story. I have no problem putting this together, HOWEVER, there is NO WAY I can buy the tickets with your names on them. They will all say my name.

All I can do at this point is suggest that I write a letter with each one giving it over to you. However, I don't know how that would work for the lottery itself. I called them, and they simply suggested I don't do this, since in the end, I would have to claim the prizes for you if you won something big.

It's up to the general response. My thoughts here are it's simply not worth the hassle, especially since I will be back in Victoria soon and if they require a local pick-up with me present, I cannot do that.

Your call! Let me know. Otherwise, somebody else might want to take over from me.

I think you're in for a massive legal quagmire/huge pain in the ass if someone actually won something decent.

I know what would go through my mind, if one of the other group buy particpants won; and that would be to demand my share. Like with a lotto 6/49 group buy.

Sure, seems like everyone would be "cool with it now" but when all you'd have to do is talk to a lawyer and possibly nab 20 or 30k, the temptation is too large.

I wouldn't do this if i were you.

I have no problem handing over the rights, and I'm an upstanding enough guy to give up the ticket. I'm not going to come back and claim it for myself. I just want my one ticket.

I'm just saying I'm not flying back from Victoria to pick up an iPod or Best Buy gift card that somebody won, because it's not their name on the ticket.

Hey Guys,

People buy Cash and Cars tickets in groups often. What we typically see is a group of 8 will buy an 8-pack and when they receive the official ticket with the 8 ticket numbers, everyone is assigned one ticket.

The purchaser will then write a letter stating who owns which ticket and will send a copy of the letter and the official ticket to each individual.

We see group wins often and it makes the purchase much cheaper.

BTW, I've had the opportunity to get behind the wheel in the Bentley, and fell in love instantly. Still waiting for my chance to get behind the wheel of the Gallardo.

You are right. Because people are purchasing a chance to win, Canada Revenue Agency doesn't allow tax receipts to be issued.

The prize will go into the person's estate.

There are some bonus prizes if you purchase before Wednesday next week so be sure to gather up a group before then.
