Need a new mountain bike, seeing what beyond recommends. Need something that has shocks (preferably dual, and disk brakes) willing to spend around $700. Mostly used for light trails like fishcreek and some downhill.

Looked at these at sportcheck but have no idea if their any good, Diamond back??

diamond back $650 (http://www.sportchek.ca/sportchek/do/style?menuId=61&styleId=55021)

Diamond back $550 (http://www.sportchek.ca/sportchek/do/style?menuId=61&styleId=47515)

or if anyone has any other suggestions with bikes / stores to check out.. not sure if specialty shops like the bike shop will be more

In your price range you're better off looking for a hardtail unless you go used. Sportcheck bikes usually are junk but sometimes they have something decent.

$700 will get you a pretty good hardtail bike from one of the higher quality brands. If you want a full suspension bike thats quality then your going to have to buy used, but be careful about checking out the bike thoroughly before buying used. For places to look, check out : pinkbike.com bowcycle , cyclepath.
Bow has a used bike classifieds on its website, in shop they carry kona, cannondale, specialized, norco. Cyclepath carries Giant ( just tops), trek, and some norco.
