Yeah, the new Virtual Box 3 includes DX9 emulation.

I reviewed them all a while back - more from a gaming and media perspective:

Back then, Virtual Box was missing features. Today it would probably win.

I would use Bootcamp, but I have partitioned the main drive to put the iPhoto database on it for two users on the Mac, allowing Time Machine to back it up. I guess Bootcamp wants a non-partitioned drive to install too.

Virtual Box looks interesting, had not seen it before, however, performance is important to me as well. I may wish to play a game or two, but I need to run Mentor, an engineering CAD program. It looks like if Bootcamp is out for me, I can't figure out a better way to share the database and have Time machine back it up, then VM Ware is the next best choice.
