I was on my way home from Kelowna yesterday and saw this around the Banff area. Pretty neat car imo, come to think of it, i think it was a starter car i once used in Grand Turismo, lol

Sorry for the blurry pics.

There are tons of pictures online of the coupes ...

That's a sweet spot!

I'm guessing the person works here temporarily because isn't that the only way to bring a 'new' car overseas?

He's here on a 2 year work permit. He cannot sell the car here and has to take it back when he's done.

The guy is a member here, his screen name is Tipoboy. That was a picture he posted when he first joined Beyond. Funny thing was that was in 2005, with a 2 year work permit. I guess since he's still being spotted he must have had it extended.

Yes it's a 5 Cyl Turbo, apparently it's been modified to kick out 300+bhp. Still FWD though :(

Hehe, so that's what my car looks like on the move!!

I had spent the weekend DH biking at Kicking horse and was driving back to Calgay. DH bike dismantled and placed on rear seats.

I've been here for nearly 4 years and are trying to get my work permit extended for another 2. Currently it expires in October.

I'd had lots of problems with the engine. After the DTP show in Calgary last June the engine had to be stripped down and rebuilt. Problems were mainly caused by det. Needed rebore (now a 2.5), new crank, custom rods, custom pistons, customs valves. I finally got the engine back and working on June 25th this year so I've been trying to get as much use out of the car as possible. I'm still running it in for another 1500km so no fun keeping her under 3k rpm and base boost.

Shape wise the car is pretty much standard although bigger rims, lowering, aftermarket bumpers and skirts and a custom colour make it look a little different from what you would have got it you bought one from a garage. Lots of little details finish it off. I've changed the grill from the Cadamaro you see in the pictures with the Police to a standard FIAT one which I prefer the look of.

Engine wise it's completely different, the block is the same but internally it's all new:

2.4 Fiat Stilo crank
2.4 Fiat Stilo head
Custom JE pistons
Custom Carillo rods
Custon Ferrea valves
GT3076 Turbo
Evo Intercooler
Autronic standalone ECU
Apexi Turbo controller
RaceLogic Traction control
Lightened flywheel
Paddle clutch
C&B cams

Didn't they use one of these in Top Gear in that episode where they have to build the police cars? Pretty sure Jeremy Clarkson grabbed a Fiat Coupe, James May got a Lexus and Hammond had that... flamboyantly gay jeep thingy IIRC.

That's right, they painted it in Itailan Police colours and put big spikes on the wheels. It's now on permanent display in the studio.

Hmm, I wonder if it would be possible to get someone with a work permit to bring out a Fiat 500 Abarth and 'leave the keys' with me for a nominal fee. :D

Hi,

Unfortunately the car will be off the road for a couple of months. I'm having a shoulder operation on Thursday so won't be able to drive for a while.

I'd bring it to the meet tonight but I'm going for a meal with friends. Once I'm able to drive again I'll bring it along for you to look at. It'll be good to meet up with everyone again after so long.

Best of luck on the operation.
