What's it equivalent to compared to a consumer nVidia graphics card?

I'm not much up-to-speed on PC video cards anymore, Mac boy now, so I couldn't say. I'm sure if you researched the net, you'd get a good idea. I played Half Life Orange Box with it and was smooth as glass at 1200x1600 resolution, Details set to highest settings.

The FX 3500 uses the same core as a FX 5500, which has the same core as the Geforce 7900 GTX. The 3500 uses less pixel and vertex shaders (unified shaders didn't exist till Geforce 8), and less VRAM. Thus, you can more or less treat it like a workstation-class 7800 GTX.
