If he acts like he doesn't know what you are talking about, be persistant - he'll give in

  @ this thread.

Your oil pressure is too low or your VTEC solenoid is broken.

Drove the car. It has a check engine light, and the rpms bounce off of 5k like it has a rev limiter. I told him to get the codes pulled, hopefully we can work from there?

Go to Autovalue and have them read the codes for free

sounds like the ecu is in safe mode, try resseting the ecu by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 15 min and try again

I have experienced non engaging VTEC system. Followed by appropriate engine code. Removed the solenoid and cleaned it. Viola, problem solved.
So don't be so quick to judge.

Bingo. Im sure he'll be able to take it off and clean it. If that doesnt work, there's another problem.

I talked to the owner, and it supposedly drove perfectly before he bought it. Changed the oil, and BAM, this happened. My guess is all the sludge build up inside clogged a sensor when he changed the oil.

Vtec kicking in yoo!! replaced the vtec solenoid and its working fine, the old solenoid didnt have the green plug, it was blocked. I think the old owner put a d15b solenoid or some shit ><
