I'm looking into a custom garage on a plot of land and was wondering if anyone has any experience with some sort of build/design program? I've been looking at designs/drawings and want to sort of combine a couple into one. I dont need it to be professional grade to spit out plans and materials list, but it would be nice if it woul somehow let me know if what I want is impractical from a construction point of view...

Kinda like I wanna design my own garage with overhead appt/suite but am no artist and would like some suggestions of a software program I can use and "build" it on screen with walls/doors/windows etc.

Yes I can google all kinds of things, but suggestions and input from somene who's tinkered in the same way would be great.
Thanks.

Try this

I used to use the interior design program for when I was doing basement devlopements and other renos

There is a home design sooftware program to expand the interior design to do exteriors and etc.

I know somewhere in the program it will also giv you estimates for materials useage if you've 'designed' it right.

This isn't a free program, lots of fun to use.
