In order for rims with small dents to be repaired, do they need to be repainted??

Im pretty sure they do, guy at Alberta wheel repair told me they have to refinish almost every rim.

Did you have your wheel(s) refinished there? Based on what I've read it sounds like alot of people are unhappy with there services. I just have 1 small dent, I was hoping they could fix it without having to paint...
