Has anyone done this? I just did it for the first time today and set a time of 1hr 25min. They said it'd take between 2hrs to 2:30 to complete. I'm hoping to get it down to under an hour by end of September!

PS - GREAT CALF WORKOUT :P

Did you hike up and take the gondola down? Or hike up & down.
Just wondering because I really enjoy hiking uphill, but I can't really go down because I have a bad knee. How much is a gondola ride down?

When was the last time you were up there? I was there 2 years ago and they started charging for the trip down.

No, just a pack with some water in it.

I have done this hike in just under 2 hours (many smoke breaks).

And it costs something like 11 bucks (or close to) for a ride down.

I was just there 2 months ago and the gondola operator told me otherwise. :dunno: I must have received bad info.

My wife and I did the hike in 1h30m.

haha shouldn't count as a hike if it only takes 1.5 hours. Sounds more like a stroll :P

Two other good short hikes with nice elevation gain are Ha Ling Peak near Canmore and Prairie Mountain near Bragg Creek.
These are fun to do as training runs rather than hikes and can be done in trail runners rather than hiking boots. They're also possible to do on a weeknight after work.

Pretty sure you mean Chinaman's Peak...

And yea, its a great little hike. Heart mountain is always a nice jaunt with some interesting parts. If you're looking for more of a challenge in the area try the main peak of Rundle Mountain (1500m elevation gain).

I just did those 2 the past couple of weekends. They are not too bad. Maybe a bit tougher than Sulphur mountain but nice hike's.

Anybody hike up to the top of Fairview Mountain (NOT Fairview point) in Lake Louise? Just curious to see how it was. I'm planning on doing it sometime in august.

Naw he's actually right dood. I just googled it and according to Wiki the name was changed in 1997. Kind of odd considering I remember it being in the news a couple years ago (somebody died on it/got stuck) and they mentioned "Chinamans Peak".

Oh I know it was changed. I find it so hilarious that somebody got their panties in a twist enough to need to change the name.
