Ok so this may seem like a stupid thing to decide between but i'm having a huge issue with deciding which of the two vehicles to purchase. I've had a CTS before and loved it. The feel, handling, style, and everything but i've never had a S2000.. I know one is practical and the other is full of fun and handling but I really cant decide.. Thought beyond might be able to shed some light.. Below are the good and bad of both. Keep in mind i work at a large GM dealer and they would like to see me in a CTS. As well i get cheap parts and labour for the CTS. This will be my 2nd vehicle as i already have a 99 jeep cherokee for winter and family use. this car will be my summer toy.

2006 Cadillac CTS 3.6L loaded $14,500

Good:
-Stylish
-Practical (4 seater 4 door)
-Inexpensive
-2 years newer
-0$ down for the financing (because of year)

Bad:
-95,000 km
-need to buy 20" wheels asap$2000 extra (stock 16" are ugly)
-Expensive to fix
-Owe 5 year financing on a high KM depretiating vehicle
-Cant buy warranty

2003 Honda S2000 $16,000

Good:
-Convertible
-Fast and Fun
-Holds Value
-Reliable Honda

Bad:
-2 seater & impractical
-95,000 km no warranty
-$2500 down because its a 2003 and hard to finance
-I'd get hassled at work about not buying a GM

So with that said which one would you choose and why? Im guessing that there might be honda fans on here and that it might be honda bias but what would you do?

CTS is not a summer car by any means. If it had to be between those two then I'd pick s2000 even though I am not a big fan of low torque engine for summer driving.

But if you can spend a few more bucks then go for CTS-V, there are some decent deals on kijiji.ca as well. If not then there was a vette here for 24,000 or something not too long ago.

I drive a CTS, great car all around, don't know why you think its a summer car haha, I drive mine all year round as my only vehicle, sure it has rear wheel drive but I manage, makes for some fun donuts in the winter. There is also Snow mode which starts out at a higher gear, pretty good I find

If this is your only vehicle the CTS for sure as the S2000 isn't even an option for the winter. However if you have something else for the winter then try the little toy. It's not like there's a shortage of Caddy's to buy next year if you change your mind.

if you have a current ride and this is going to be your summer car, i'd say s2k

Why take out a loan for a new car if you can keep driving your current one? Save your pennies and don't borrow money unless your current breaks down.

Or, CTS. haha. If you work at a GM dealer that would make the maintenance and things less of a headache, hopefully.

I dont know why they'd hassle you excessively for not buying a GM car, when I worked at a Ford dealership nobody could possibly care less that I didn't drive a Ford. :dunno:

I'd buy a Solstice GXP or a Sky Redline, so you can have a car faster then a S2000, but still have a GM product.

You can get a used GXP or Redline for a decent price now. Just keep looking.
I'd rock a Sky redline or a GXP over an S2000, just because of the engine alone.
260hp base,
260tq base, plus the fact they're factory boosted leaves you with some very cost effective performance figures.

Sell you mine fully loaded CTS with Nav, leather, and just under 55k on the odometer for $16000

It's a 2003 but only 55k on it, excellent condition.

Looks like he already made the decision.
