So last night at a concert, my current PDA suffered water damage, so all the more excuse to upgrade to a Blackberry.
Which of the two should I look into?

Bold, because it has 3G and the keyboard is way nicer to type on.

voted 8900 curve.
I'm usually around a PC so I wont need 3G. I have a larger resolution, better camera, running OS 4.6.1 for 6 months with no issues. running the new BBM 5.0 smoothly.

Bold has constant OS issues even with newer versions. most of my friends either have an iPhone or Bold. The Bold's crash and loose functionality all the time.
oh and they are massive.

When the Bold does Crash, all it needs is a battery pull and back to normal. In 5 months, I've only had to pull the battery twice.

The Bold is just a man-lier phone, nice size and weight.

I've had the bold since the day it came out, no problems with it at all, and its not even that big. I had the curve(83xx) and the size doesn't even make a difference

Voted bold because I have one and 3G is quite handy. Haven't really had major problems. I'm running 4.6.0.282 and BBIM 5.0 beta is sweet.

I have the Bold. Other than a non-functional trackball, which was replaced with a different phone, everything else is fine. My only beef is the screen resolution.

I dont think think 8900 even has 3G....correct me if i'm wrong

EDIT: yea i'm pretty sure 8900 doesnt have 3G, and only works on EDGE, I remember that's what I didnt like about it.

BOLD. The tour and javelin (new curve) are not 3G!

The BlackBerry Tour 9630 is 3G. It runs Ev-Do Rev A which is 3g.

The BlackBerry Bold 9000 runs HSPA/HSDPA which is 3g.

The only newer BlackBerry that does not run 3G is the Curve 8900 which runs EDGE which is 2G.

Bold has a great keyboard, 3G is nice to have.

The 8900 has a great camera though, and a great form factor.

Edit - There is a bit of difference between 3g and Edge. 3G is quite a bit faster. 3G has better sound quality. If you can swing it, get a Bold. It is a great phone.

Thats true, it doesn't support North American HSPA bands.

But it does support Ev-Do Rev A. Which is 3G.

HSPA and EVDO Rev A are both 3G.

Apple really fucked everyone up by calling the iPhone 3g. They should have called it iPhone HSPA

Apple really fucked everyone up by calling the iPhone 3g. They should have called it iPhone HSPA It's not Apple's fault - blame the network providers. Rogers, AT&T, all the big network providers are advertising 3G. All the CDMA-based providers are using EV-DO Rev.A for marketing, not 3G.

When you're running a Tour on Telus, it'll say EVDO - not 3G.

When you're running a Bold on Rogers, it'll say 3G - not HPSA.
