It is funny because it's his own fault. He was lifting too much weight so he lost grip and let go of the handle. If the cable snapped, the handle wouldn't fly into his face.

If you pause at the beginning of his first rep you can see his left hand grip is odd - for some reason he's barely holding the bar with the ends of fingers, not a full grip for some strange reason.

I wonder if he was doing it that way for some retarded purpose? (I can't begin the count the number of stupid things I used to do years ago, such as thumbless bench pressing for more tricep involvement - god, that was stupid)

I think he needed to lower the seat so that he could bring his arms down all the way, that may be why he had such an awkward grip.
