Canine carcasses discovered in restaurant

CP

EDMONTON -- Health officials have launched an investigation after the skinned carcasses of four canine animals were found in an Edmonton restaurant freezer.

Edmonton Humane Society constables and environmental health officers removed the carcasses from the Panda Garden restaurant early yesterday.

They had been tipped off by strip mall security guards.

The carcasses have been handed over to Alberta Fish and Wildlife officials, who are conducting an autopsy to determine whether the animals are dogs or coyotes and whether the meat is infected.

Capital Health environmental health officer Richard Reive says the carcasses are "uninspected meat," regardless of whether they turn out to be coyotes or dogs.

The restaurant has been closed.

Reive says the carcasses were found on the floor of the restaurant's walk-in freezer.

He says two were in black plastic garbage bags but the others were uncovered when he inspected the freezer.

Perhaps you don't recall the foody goody incident here in cow town?

I heard that. What I was wondering is why they would do that. You would think the only reason to use bad meat would be for economic incentives, but I would have to guess that dog is a great deal more expensive that beef, chicken ect.

the things with foody goody was just a rumor that came from the competitor....

Calgary's chinese restaurant business is brutal. So many stupid rumors from competitors that usually fucks 'em over enough to close down. Foody Goody isn't the only one. There are tons of rumors about rats in soup, rats running around, cat/dog meat, closed by inspectors... tons of crazy stuff.

I heard that it was in Saskatoon (?). This former co-worker of mine said that inspectors found cats in cages in a Foody Goody and there were 'lost cat' signs all over the neighbourhood.

He kept calling me 'Catboy' because I was Chinese.

Vancouver, Calgary, Saskatoon? Which one is it? I would think it's just a rumour otherwise it would already be on the news! Just like that Edmonton restaurant. But anyhow, I don't think there's anymore Foody Goody in Calgary right?

the foody goody closed because their lease was over and the rent was rasied to some disguesting amount so they decided to close it

I seem to recall it making the news and everything, but this was quite a few years ago.
