Anyone had this happen?

9005 Sylvania halogen

Did you touch it with your greasy fingers? Usually what happens... wipe with isopropyl alcohol (the good stuff, 99.953%)

No, this is a 1.5 year old bulb.

Edit: like been using it for 1.5 yr... but just never seen the glass warp like that, maybe I just haven't change euff bulbs.

Looks like a manufacturing defect somehow. I'd take it back.

It can happen if the filament melts but doesn't blow the fuse, ie, it's essentially a coil heater now. So until it breaks or blows the fuse, then it keeps melting it.

I've seen it before, it's considered a mode of failure at the end of a bulb's life. In any case, it would short or break before it started an actual fire or anything.

i think its happened to me too

and BTW fantastic pictures! i hate the super up close blurry pics that ppl love to take
