YMCA: Shawnessy VS Heritage?

so currently i work out at shawnessy YMCA, but now I moved from Cranston to Kingsland and see that there is a YMCA near heritage which i've never been to.

can anyone compare the two facilities for me? in terms of equipment, people, size, how many benches there are, hwo many sets of free weights, cardio machines (tvs?), how busy it is etc and generally the quality of the gym.

i like shawnessy but if heritage is similar it's pointless for me to drive that much farther...

Shawnessy is a much larger facility. It has a running track, more equipment, etc. Heritage is a bit of a whole in the wall.

Suck it up and drive to MRC. :)

i havent been to the pool at heritage, but the gym is really small

I trained at heritage in the 70's it is small. There really is no comparison, the Shawnessy location is a lot better.

2 flat benches, 1 incline, 1 decline, 1 moveable/adjustable bench, 1 squat rack, 2 cable stations, 1 smith machine, 1 rack of free weights, 4 bikes, 3 or 4 treadmills (no TVs)

it's tiny and gets busy after work/weekday evenings

Yeah Heritage is a joke. PUNY gym with old & rundown equipment. Last time I was there which was about a month ago (since my main gym was closed): I swore I wouldn't ever go back. 80% of the patrons there are old people on the cardio trainers & machine weights. No hotties to be had at all. :thumbsdow

It's free for you to go check it out as a paying YMCA member, though I would not even bother.

ive been to my share of gyms, and ymca is pretty shitty. mrc has to be the best one i've seen in calgary
