If you have space, I think you can just pop the new ram in. The only problem I could see is the rams not working well with each other, but then again I am not an expert.

^^ you can just pop the new ram in... but again, there could be conflics between ram... but usually that only happends when you plan to overclock... it rarely happends at default speeds.....

if you're asking a question like this, make sure you get an expert to tell you what type of ram you need

what kind of ram is supported by your motherboard?

if you put in the same type of ram into your mother board but the new one is faster, the computer will run with the lower speed.

There's ways to run 4 gigs on a 32 bit operating system.

Take the old one out, count the number of slots you have and take it with you to the store when you buy a new one. Make sure they match the clock speed and the CAS timings.
