Ford is on a roll looks like, up 48%

Richmond Hill, Ontario - Sales of new passenger cars and light trucks were down 6.4 per cent in July 2009, compared with July 2008, but Ford’s sales rose by 47.6 per cent, topping all manufacturers for the second consecutive month, according figures released by industry analyst Dennis DesRosiers.

Other manufacturers with sales up by more than 30 per cent included Audi, Hyundai, Porsche and Volvo.

Gas is cheap and Canada is large.

I think Ford is on a roll. Taurus, Fusion, Fiesta, Mustang and F150. Damn good line up. Even the shitty Focus is still pulling good numbers.

I think one of the other reasons why Ford sales are going up is because people know the company is run better - ford did not need a bailout. Which is why I respect Ford much more now.

i dont think ppl care how a company's upper management is running a company when they buy a car.

do you wonder how mr peanut is handling his company when you buy his cashews?

Do you expect to make a warranty claim against Mr. Peanut? Are you worried about future parts availability? These are the reasons Ford is the shining star. Who would buy Gm, or Chrysler? Doubt is a huge player.
Ford has turned itself around also. Factor in companies like Honda killing cool cars and F1 teams, toyota not making any real improvements, and companies like Ford and Hyundai will reap the rewards of trying some fresh ideas.

I think doubt plays a huge role as well. Ford is doing really well, they have really good products (Taurus, Fusion, F150, Focus isn't too bad, Flex.) and they have pretty good marketing.

What i've noticed is that it used to be only GM/Ford/Chrysler that advertised having a sale on cars while Toyota/Honda/others always were like "we have this great new car called..."

Now Honda/Toyota/Other as like "we have 0% financing" and Ford is advertising "we have really cool cars now, and in the future the Fiesta, etc etc".

They still advertise deals, but less than they did in the past.

I respect Ford more than ever now, if they would just bring a euro Focus over...

Hopefully that means they build a Focus for the UK, and then produce for both markets. The European market won't stand for a crap version of the Focus, which is the UK's most popular car. Third most popular is the Ford Fiesta. link (http://www.autotrader.co.uk/EDITORIAL/CARS/news/NEWCARS/49771.html).

Next NA Focus will be same as Euro Focus but will (99% sure) be built in Mexico.

LOL who's buying all these Kias? They are starting to get close to Mazda and Nissan numbers which is pretty amazing when you look at where they were a few years back. Must be out east as I really don't see that much around locally. Hyundai has been riding the wave of good press for a few years now I wonder how high they will climb as they are nipping at Honda now. As long as they keep on selling cars for cheaper than the competition I don't see any signs of them slowing down.

So one step forward and two steps back then.

I think the cost and contract of union labor in US prevent them to switch to the new platform. But with expired contract and cheap Mexican labor, it'll be profitable to switch on the next gen.

Most lines manufactured in Mexico tend to become the most unreliable vehicles in the companies lineup. VW, Nissan, Chrysler, etc have all had mediocre results from their Mexican assembled cars.

0 doubt about it. QR25DE is pretty shitty in quality and it's in almost every cheap Nissan.

Nissan doesn't need any help from Mexicans to build shitty cars ;)
