Anyone own a C class here? they look like crazy nice cars. Obviously I want a C63 but for the $80,000 pricetag I dont think I should spend that much.

What are the C350's like? How is reliability? How is fuel/maintenance?

My dad just picked one up. Good torque. Great car for the price. Entertainment system is great with nav, bt, etc. Really comfortable ride

I have a 2008 C230. Love the damn thing. Gas is all right, about 9-10l/100km driving semi aggresviely in the city.

I content with the power and the 300 and the 350 have a pinch more. Its so comfy to drive.

Interior looks cheap but everything else is good on the test drive.

Now that S4 starts @ $52K, I don't think C350 can compare unless MB throw more HP @ it.

hater LOL. the inside isnt bad at all and its a great car to drive but the acceleration got a little lag when you coming out from a merge but its a easy fix. i owned a c300 and i know few members here got a c350 too

The C350 is an easy choice over the C63, simply because of costs and driveability, you wont feel a lack of power in the 350, and the fit and finish of the 350 is much better then the older generation of C class.

Love them in white with the panoramic roof :) Really nice car, I'd take one over a 335 or S4 in a minute, not because of performance but simply the style and drive of the car.

The C63 is probably the best bang for the buck when you compare it all of its competitors.

How is the C63 not driveable? Leave the ESP on and it is like any other benz.

Its less winter happy then the C350 I should have said, especially the 4matic version. Less of a year round car. Although there's nothing stopping anyone from doing so.

Just got my latest issue of "Car and (bmw) Driver" magazine. They compared the C350, Jag, Infinity, 535 and A6. I think they finished in that order A6 first. I was surprised the BMW didn't finish first.

^ you sure not the E350? Seems to be out classed.

I don't know, it just feel more Chrysler a bit and pieces of MB then a true MB. If you feel any better, the new E isn't that much better either.

Whoops, just in the library, it was the E350, Jag XF, Infinity M45,
BMW 535i and A6. Well I got the A6 correct. Come to think of it the E350 seems pretty close to the F350 Ford one ton in nomenclature anyway.

well if you are comparing a 4matic and c63 then i'll agree with you, only because its 4wd. But the driviability of the c63 in winter should be no different from a c350...

I'm buying my C63 specifically for winter lol.

There's no pano roof on the C63 tho, which kinda sucks.

If I wasn't looking into building a second property, I would have bought a C63 already lol

B18C bought a C350 4matic and he wishes he bought a C63 so there you go.

450hp RWD > 268hp AWD

You can always buy a winter beater for the C63, go buy an old as AWD Impreza for those really bad days.

Can't comment much on reliability but be prepared to pay for service.

Service costs depends on your driving style.

I've had my SLK55 for 3 years now. Service intervals are set at 15,000kms.

First service: $300
Second service: $700

You don't know how much you have to pay or what needs to be done until you bring the car in. Unlike Subaru's or Honda's which follow a schedule, MB techs plug your car into the computer and whatever shows up is what's going to be serviced.

BTW, C63's are $80K, unless you are getting the performance and premium package?

$69K done deal with the 2010's. No performance or premium package for me.

Must say though, gas is going to suck on this car hahaha:burnout:

I picked up a C300 last year with the Sports Package and everything else that you could throw in it other then the push start and key less entry.

Love the car and I get about 600K a tank and the tank is 67 Liters so it holds a crap load of gas which hurts the bank when you fill it but ya its a great car.

The command system is really nice everything is integrated into it from the DVD player to Music, Satellite Radio. Plus they have a slot under it for a PCMCIA card adapter which allows you to throw in more music on a SD card. Although I must say I haven't found a PCMCIA card that works for me so I need to go to the MB dealership and ask them which one is supported.

The car just has a lot of nice features like the tinting mirrors, the little back window visor that comes up, the side mirrors that close into the car when you set your alarm, the low air pressure alert. All in all I am very impressed and pleased with this car, now by no means is it the super speedy fast zoom zoom car like a S4 or M3 but for me its got comfort and its got enough under the hood to make me smile.

Going to be harder to sell / trade in when the time comes. I wish the LSD was a standalone option. No need for the Performance pack outside of the LSD. The suspension is stiffer, you can go 185 mph instead of 155. Two piece brakes are nice, but only for the front. haha

What I am pissed about is the fact that you can get the optional 19" wheels in the US now, but not in Canada. Funny enough, the US 2008-2009 owners are pissed that Canadians got Keyless go.

Also, in 2010, you can't get Keyless go as a stand alone option. It is by far one of the best options. I love the comfort access on my BMW.

A bit off topic but I know a few guys here have 335s and its the same category.

Coming back home from Kananaskis a few days ago I decided to see how little gas I could consume. I went 90km/h and under the whole way on highway 40 and over 40 km I averaged around 6.1L/100km, in M6. Is that possible or is the computer lying? I didn't go into boost once but I still find it hard to believe that it would do 38mpg. It was pretty cold outside @ 8*C so that might have contributed. It gets around 11.0 in the city and its the xi. :dunno:

If you're one that cares about fuel consumption, or gas prices, the C63 is not for you. You really have to not give a shit how much u spend on gas to drive anything with balls.

Do you know how hard it is to buy 19" winters? lol

Benz owners LOVE to bitch, mostly because they're all chinese haha. They'll spec it out with all options incl 19" wheels, winter comes, and they'll bitch at the sales guy because they can't find winter tires!

As for bang for the buck... I dont think so, the c63 base is $7000 less than an M3, but an M3 has LSD, you have to pay $7000 to MB for the performance package to get the LSD. So once you add LSD the C63 and M3 are the same price.

As someone mentioned before, the servicing costs are high, where an M3 is all included.

I don't want to sound like a fanboy, but I was really interested in the C63, till I looked into the costs some more and what was included vs the M3 and thats when I got turned off the C63. The biggest thing that I was turned off by, was the fact that a 451hp "performance sedan" doesnt come standard with LSD.

C63 is fucking gorgeous. Even the C350 is pretty sweet, whenever I see one and I'm in the 328i I get a little jealous.

Actually, the performance package is $4000.

Price a fully optioned M3 and a C63 and then talk.

A car is meant to be driven. Why would you buy a winter beater for a car that is perfectly capable of being winter driven?

Oh I know and agree, just saying if AWD was that important, go get a beater on the side so you can have it lol Everyone should have a beater just in case anyway.

C350 4matic is great for what it is no doubt but if you can afford the extra $13K, definitely get the C63. :bigpimp:

wow thanks for all the responses. I know I want a C63 just the big number 7 is a little much for me. We are looking to get a place as well so I can handle up to $50,000 and still get a place.

I like the 350, not AWD, it is still kinda sexy and when I get a few years into my place and I have had my car for a while, perhaps I could go and get a C63.

Also Panaroof FTW!

I love my c300! I just got service B done and it cost me about 550 bucks.
I am not the kind of person who needs speed so I am extremely happy with my c300.
Good luck on your purchase!

It's an option for a reason. Most C63 buyers will never have a use for the LSD.

benyl
08-10-2009, 01:17 PM
I find it funny that some of the people gripping about the car not having an LSD would likely never be in a situation where they would benefit from one.

You don't need one on the street. And with Race City going the way of the Dodo, there won't be much track time to be had around here.
