View Full Version : WTB (or take off your hands): Old LCD monitor

Hey guys.

I have an old linux computer that I'm looking at playing around with different Linux OS's on, but my old LCD (a Viewsonic from the stone age) decided to finally give up the ghost.

I'm looking for the extremely cheap low end. I'm talking the old square 4:3's, 1020x768, 20ms beasties. It will be running on an ATI Rage128 card (yep, that old), so anything over 1280x1024 is really a) overkill and b) probably not even viable.

If you got one in half decent knick (ie the screen turns on and has BASICALLY the right colors), I'll spend the gas to come take it off your hands, or I'm willing to spend up to $10-$15 on a monitor if it's fairly recent and in good knick (like 2004-2005 range and only minor screen problems)

This is just purely for my own benefit, learning the inner workings of OpenSUSE, Ubuntu, etc.

Help a fellow geek out d(^^ d)

Sorry.....I'm having a difficult time understanding this, so please be patient with me.

You are willing to do someone a favour and sacrifice your own money for gas to come and pick up a free LCD that they may have ? .......and may even offer as much as $15 for an LCD that is just over a few years old ....as long as it's in good shape ?

Once again, just trying to make sense of this.

I will come pick up a monitor if it's free, yes. I mean, jeez, I can't really ask for something like that and expect delivery o_O And up to $15 for a monitor that was like $120 in 2005 isn't that bad (like I said, I don't need high quality, high rez, because I'll mostly be doing command line level stuff on it anyways).

So pretty much, what you said, yes, you got :)

What LCD monitor was $120 'back in 2005' ?

If you have to know, cheaply made, mass produced, not very good 15 inch LCD's back in 2004-2005 cost about that much on wholesale orders (like those things you see that say "Order in batches of 1000 and get these prices).

Now please stop trolling my thread, and keep posts on topic of interest of sale or donation, or just don't post.

I'm just trying to help.

I do infact have an old LCD that I could part with, but I would want to make sure it was either going to a good cause (such as a kid's PC) or someone less fortunate who could use it - not someone who was just too cheap to buy one for themselves.

Yea. You can probably buy a nice priced LCD 17 for around 50 if you get a beyonder deal.

That being said. If you come pick up my 19inch CRT (the front is true flat), and the stand is broken, I will give it to you for free.

http://www.kdsusa.com/XF9s.asp This is it, but it comes without stand
