Well is there?

I'm interested in really good protection for my car. I don't want to fuss with no-name brands or anything of the sort. I have owned a CompuStar before, I loved it, but honestly, is there anything better?

Besides Auto Dream are there any places in Calgary known to sell higher-end alarms? Audio Concepts Mobile perhaps??

Thanks

I think the Viper two way alarm seriously rivals the compustar.

I'm going to try and find out some information about the Viper alarm... when I do, I'll post it.

I'm pretty sure the vipers don't have a "ready mode" for standard transmissions, the remotes are ugly (in my opinion), they don't do anything the compustar doesn't do, the compustar actually does stuff that the vipers don't (turbo timer etc.) they cost about $100 -$150 more than the viper too,

...my $0.02....

ultrastart . it's more configurable then the compustar . i chose the ultrastart for 2 reasons . and one of those is reliability :P

i have a Arctic Start, made by the same company that makes Compustar. It's a little cheaper and does everything that the Compustar does including Turbo Timer. The authorized distributer and authorized warrenty repair is at Mr. Detail

I have had no problems with my alarm/starter, and he said if i ever do, because he installed it, that he'd repair it for free. He even took out the old starter, installed by Quinn Securities, that they fucked up in my car. I saw Quinn's install and it looked like they hired a 2-year old to do the job. Wires everywhere!!!

I'll rephrase that, I looked for a viper paging system a while ago and couldn't find any with a "ready-mode" for standard transmissions, one without the ready-mode will still work but you have to be extremly careful not to leave the car in gear.

I'm talking about the car that I'm looking at. It has a factory alarm... but bah... know one, know them all.

Personally I would go to Audio Concepts and get a Compustar. They have been out for a while now, and have been improved a ton since they first came out.

And the range on them is incredible too, they have been known to work from 5000meters away! :O

Not true, I can start my car from the 47th floor of Bankers hall while my car is on the street. I have also started my car from my old work which was on the 8th floor of the Canoxy building and my car was parked by Metro Ford. Try that with any other car starter? Plus Compustar alarms have a digital display with the paging system. I have Compustars in both my Talon and my Stang. Wouldn't use any other alarm. Viper Alarms are garbage!

Anyone know of the Clifford Matrix RS 2.1 remote start/security system? Seems like a good 2 way system like the compustar. http://www.clifford.com/matrix/secrs/default.asp

5000 is right, meters is wrong... try 5000 feet!

The new two way Autostart (with LCD remote). I've installed them all!! Autostart is one of the most reliable companys and easiest to install. Now they have a high end two way. I've got the compu star now, but I'm putting the autostart in my other car now. There's no delay, plus other +'s.

Black Widow's 2-way paging unit with Spider Web capability.

You can use a PDA or notebook computer to customize and program the alarm yourself, not to mention it can do things like call your cell phone or page your pager when you're out of range of the 2-way remote.

Infamous means "well-known" or "popular". I say it because it's true... isn't it? ;)
