Sooo, the Zune HD's coming out in a little over a month's time. OLED screen, nVidia Tegra internals, sexy case. Capable of outputting 720p from the dock courtesy of the Tegra. Should be fantastic.

The pricing is beyond competitive relative to its main rival:
16GB Zune HD - $220
16GB iPod Touch- $300

32GB Zune HD- $290
32GB iPod Touch- $400

good pricing but kinda late to the party. Apple is already dominating the market. I don't think I know anyone who doesn't already have either an Iphone or Ipod Touch. I realize its HD but meh

I may have considered it if it was a phone as well, now that i already have an iphone which is a fairly good mp3 player too its kinda hard to go back to carrying 2 things again. Otherwise it looks quite sexy.

The Apple dominance is iTunes + iPod + iPhone.

This only cover 1/3 of the formula.

Zune may show up on WinMo 6.5 or 7. But it is a bit too late. Especially HTC is now focusing more on Android.

But who knows, Apples image is kinda tarnished lately.

With the fact that Apple has dropped a lot of the DRM bullshit, I have a feeling that the Zune could actually have a fighting chance.

iTunes + DRM definitely gave the iPod and advantage over its rivals when it comes to people that actually buy their music. Without DRM people are no longer tied to using an iPod when they buy music.

Not a chance. Macbook is as expensvie as ever. A cheaper alternative will never sway Apple to follow.

Wow! This is awesome! My iTouch is slowly coming to a halt (battery issues) so this would be a sweet replacement.

Hopefully the music management system that the ZuneHD will use will be awesome, unlike when the old Zune first came out.

The prices are USD, leaked from both Best Buy and Amazon. The US release is September 15th. I was going to wait for the 64GB version... but I don't know if I can wait to show off that sweet UI to my friends.

For those familiar with Zunes, they also brought the equalizer back for the Zune HD.

I'd love to purchase one of these, but it doesn't have a few things I take for granted with my iPod touch:
- OS X compatibility
- iTunes syncing
- Apple app store
The top two can be worked around if I installed Windows 7 with Parallels, but I'd rather not have to run a completely separate OS just to sync one device. The Apple app store is dominating these days, and current WinMo apps are, for the most part, horrible experiences.

Overall, I love the device. I really want one.

Love the look and styling of this thing but I wish it came out earlier this year. A lot of people already have an Ipod or Iphone and to switch over it's unlikely.

Few things I like are the OLED screen, battery life must be great with this device. The shape and styling of this is pure sex, sharp lines and flat corners win over round edges and chrome accents anyday(ipod/iphone).
HD would be sweet specially for youtube videos or just random clips. I don't see myself watching a movie on this thing.

Microsoft would've had a good market share if they updated the first zune quicker as it did catch on originally but no updates is a killer.

Looks great. I'd definitely pick up one of these over the iTouch since I hardly play any games and that seems to be its only weakness.

Anyone have one yet? I'm just wondering about media compatibility. I've never converted any downloaded videos to play on my current iPod. It's just too much hassle. My old Creative Zen was great for this. I could download in any format (mpg, xvid, avi) and drag directly onto the mp3 player and have something to watch on the train or plane.

I'd also consider one of these 120GB ones since I like to have ALL my music with me. :D

I want one, too bad it's not in Canada yet. It's expected to be here later this fall or before Christmas. There also isn't a Canadian Zune Marketplace as of right now...
