Has anybody tried Powerline Ethernet? Wireless is not an option and neither is running CAT5 through the house as it's already built.

Just curious how well this product works.

Thanks.

I use it for my 360 and my FTA sat box. Works great, although I haven't used it to play 360 online yet, so I don't what the actual speed is

Another option is ethernet over coax

Do you mind if I ask why wireless isn't an option?

they work great, only a bit pricey.
i got these for my aunt:

it works right out of the box, not much setup required. As you can see its only a 14Mbps for 60bucks. I'd recommending getting something at the 54Mbps instead.

I have the Dlink DHP-301 set (looks like memex has a slightly updated model). They worked exceptionally well for the first couple of months, but they get extremely hot and it seems like it has taken a toll on the whole setup.

If the room/home in general uses too much electricity the adapters fail to find each other; I used to be able to turn on the light in this room without dropping the connection but now I can't . When they are connected I can stream videos and game with no problems at all.

I've used both Powerline ethernet (Dlink) as well as the Coax ethernet (Netgear).

The Powerline ethernet has decent speeds, but latency is quite a bit higher. It also varies depending on what's using power in the house, so there's a LOT of things capable of interference, which reduces speed.

I'm using the Coax over ethernet now at my house (my CAT5's are all used up for HDMI distribution). It works awesome, 100mbps (port limited, the coax line is capable of 300mbps), 0 latency. I got the first ones special ordered from MemEx as soon as they were released, been running it for 6 months now without problems.
