Not trying to tick you off here by not reccomending a dealership buuutt....... I'f you'd like to check out www.westernsbuaruclub.ca Many knowledgable and mature members who are trying to sell theirs and many know of any "surprises" some of the used dealer cars have. If that's obvious, please forgive my ignorance.

Not ignorant what so ever! I appreciate the help, I have been a member on WSC for the past few months. The only Sti's selling are the 08+ or the hawk eyes!

Skip the '04 and find an '05. The differences are worth it.

There are a few differences between the '04 and the '05.

You can probably find a complete list on NASIOC.

Somethings that come to mind.

The '05 has sport EBD. This works in conjunction with the yaw sensor that the came in '05 that the '04 doesn't have. Basically better proportional braking. How or if it works is a mystery to me.

The '05 also has heated passenger and driver seats. The '04 only has the driver's seat.

The '05 has a different type of limited slip diff in the front that than does the '04. I think the '04 is mechanical.

The interior of the '05 is also update with more silver painted plastics and the seats have less Alcantara (better as the '04 has Alcantara where it wears badly).

There is the previously mentioned larger hubs of the '05. This opens up a few more wheels that fit over the Brembos. Wheels are tough to find for both the '04 and the '05, but there is more selection for the '05 as it is a more common bolt pattern. This also translates to a wider track in the rear. The wheels on the '05 are wider, 8" as opposed to 7.5" for the '04. Also, the rear fenders are "rolled" from the factory.

The '05 has the immobilizer, but the '04 has an STi specific key. The '05 comes with a 6 disc CD changer HU.

That is all I can think of at the moment.
