Was the steering wheel on the right side too?

Jokes. Good luck - cops are the only ones to help you, really :thumbsdow

haha, no the steering wheel was not on the right hand side.

The police who arrived on the scene refused to enter any of the details that I provided of the other car into their report because they felt it was incomplete... so Im really hoping some witnesses might be able to help me out.

I believe the gernal consensus will be - keep chase, call 911 as you're doing it.

I dont have an exact figure, but I would estimate $5,000 to $7,000 in damage. The entire left side of my car is wrecked.

Was it a 4-door or a 2-door golf?

Its the version with the whole right side torn apart.

The golf may only have some paint transfer. It would really help narrow down WHICH cars I should be taking a close look at.

It was a 4-door.

They were in traffic with me all the way from around 14th Street and Heritage Drive S.W. down to Glenmore Trail >> Sarcee Trail. They were weaving in and out of traffic for sections of their drive.

http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/4522/screenshot1408200910927.png (http://img23.imageshack.us/i/screenshot1408200910927.png/)

The path they took to evade me would indicate that they were simply taking the path of least resistance. ie. turning right whenever there was heavy traffic or a red light.

Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if they live somewhere around Chinook or Fish Creek.

The lack of help from the police is also bullcrap.

I work in the area and will keep my eyes open.

I commute to and from work along Sarcee, Glenmore, 14th St. I'll keep my eyes open.
Sorry about your luck. Hope this gets resolved.

Can't the police just do a search in their systems? Something like license plate *-075, VW, calgary.

:werd: the make and model + a few plate digits should narrow it down quite a bit, if not all the way.

I went to the district police station yesterday to ask the same thing. After a 5 minute search the officer literally told me that it would take too long and he didn't want to tie up police resources. He also told me that a partial license search will turn up thousands of results anyways...

Sounds like they weren't too interested in doing anything. Probably worth a try though...

Just say you thought you saw someone waving what looks like a gun. I'll bet they'll find that car in 30 minutes with partial plates.

Unfortunately the CPS is correct in saying that partial plates on common vehicles under these circumstances are typically a non-starter.

Imagine the time required to visit dozens of residences to check a vehicle for damage that 1/2 the time may not even be there to check on.

What you can also do is post a sign/message in the area requesting that any witnesses come forward. I've seen this work in the past (with myself).

There would be thousands of results if they only searched for ***-075. Narrow it down to green VW and ***-075 you should only have a handful. I can't believe they aren't able to do a search with multiple parameters.

That sucks to happen on your car. These teens - to the point, the teen driver is truly a coward to run away! These type of people who do that like that - I detest them for sure.

I would go check with autobody shops to see if they get an order to repair this green VW Golf recently. That had happened before but it depends... most shops won't repair damages without police report or by owner's insurance if the damage itself is over $1,000. But worth a try, you have nothing to lose...

Your best bet is to get a witness who saw what happened. Because you said there were 5 passeagers and that driver in the VW, most likely they might made a pact to deny and kept slience about the hit and run. After all, the jerk can bribe money for the pact!

Argh... I hate cowards! :whipped:

If it's mommy and daddies car, no doubt the kid will make up a false story and say someone hit and run him...

His parents will file a report.

Make sure you file yours even if they don't care about it...

Ive heard of alot of this kinda shit happening, and the way they bust the other party is because they actually say someone hit and run them, when it was their fault.

Saw this car on wednesday night before the 8 while I was headed to the meet.

He nearly rear ended a Dump truck going 120+ before weaving and nearly sideswiping a malibu, which was racing it as well.

:thumbsdow

Will keep an eye out, absolutely rediculous.

*IMPORTANT UPDATE*

A friend of mine spotted the vehicle driving around Fish Creek station. It was damaged on the right front side and had some paint transfer.

He also caught the license plate: BUG-075

I spoke to police and they searched the number. Apparently its not assigned to any vehicle, which could indicate insurance fraud or that this guy is switching plates. Therefore, its crucial we find him asap.

I'll provide more updates in a little bit.

Anything about the car stand out? Tinted windows, Diesel smoke when he gunned it, rims, ect?

Unfortunately no. There was nothing that stood out.

hopefully this guy gets caught! if the plate is bogus, not much anyone can do to help besides the police.

Case closed! After I gave the officer the license plate, he called the phone number on record and spoke with the suspect who ultimately admitted his involvement. Apparently he had told his parents some bogus story about why his car was damaged, which is why they never contacted the police. I'm still not entirely sure why the license plate wasn't registered though.

I'd like to thank everyone for their support and assistance. That's one less dangerous driver on the road.

Now comes the insurance company battle. You need a statement of guilt from the guilty party. It took weeks for my problem to get resolved, i had a statement and co-operation from the driver, but the insured wouldn't provide the insurance company with anything.

I considered it. This guy is clearly a dangerous driver... the reason my friend spotted him in the first place (and got the license) was because the kid almost crashed into him.
