Hi there,

So I've been having a problem with my 2001 Ford focus SE for over a year. I've had problems getting her properly diagnosed and dealers have been jerking me around.

She seems to get tired. (One mechanic diagnosed her and said two of the cylinders were misfiring) She bogs down when I try to accelerate and it happens more frequently in hot weather, and when I'm needing to accelerate rapidly. Then I will turn her off, rest her for 30 mins or so and she's good to go a short while.

I've replaced spark plugs, wires, and the coil pack. Mechanic promised me those would for sure solve the problem. Did nothing. Don't want to waste more money.

I'm looking for references to a good calgary mechanic that won't jerk me around, and maybe someone has an idea of what else the problem could be, or what else I could do to try and fix her?

Much thanks in advance for any assistance.

Is it a SPI? Is it an automatic? Are you getting any CELs?
My first thought is the DPFE.
There are two typical versions...
