looking to the government and politicians to solve major world issues i think is the wrong way to go.

the entire basis of the government is violence.
the reason for the govt is so that people can be in a group and give their monopoly a name so that they are the only group that can legally initiate violence.

without violence between nations there would be no need for gov't.

the individual citizen is the only point of contact for solving major problems in society without using violence.
looking to the govt for help on world issues is like looking to a mafia to fix your personal relationships... its not in their nature or part of their self-interest
