Just a warning to you guys who are looking for benz's. I was going to purchase this car last month from a different guy. The odometer shows 144 000 km but it was changed out by Hyatt @ 112 000 km. The guy is a crook trying to sell it with 144 000 km. The other guy was selling it for around $4500. Now this guy bought it and is trying to sell it with lower km for double the price

The cluster was changed with a brand new one in 02 ish when the car had 112 000km. The one they replaced it with now has 144 000. The guy is trying to sell it with the 144 000 as the true mileage.

7 yrs x 20-25,000 (avg) kms annually = 140-175,000 kms (avg)

I believe he is saying he feels the car should have 112,000kms plus up to an additional 140-175000 kms when using 20-25000 kms driven annually.

Maybe the car was parked for quite some time and he only drove it 32000 kms in 7 yrs. :dunno:

I had my X-Terra for three years from new and I only put 36000 kms on it in that time. This is a bit different km wise, but maybe he has a legit story.

I saw the paperwork and called HYATT with the VIN number and they confirmed the mileage at around 256 000. Just warning fellow beyond members who might be looking for a car like that

I am sure that I will be corrected if I am wrong, but back in the day when I worked at a dealership, if an ODO became defective, a new one had to be ordered, and we had to indicate the current milage shown. when the new one arrived, it had the same amount of KMs on it.

It was explained to me that it was the law, when questioned about swapping in a used one with lower milage from pick your part, that was legal.

It basically came down to, if the dealership repairs any ODO, it will leave with the same milage showing as what it came in with.
