I am attending a good friends wedding party in Kelowna this coming weekend and he has put me in charge of making a good upbeat jazz playlist for a New York Jazz theme.

I am a complete n00b when it comes to Jazz music. I understand common names like Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra...etc etc.

If anyone here has some Jazz knowledge and can lead me in the right direction, I would greatly apprecite the help.

I recently torrented an Acid Jazz CD by Gota Yashiki called 'It's so different here'. I've been enjoying it quite a bit, give it a listen and see if it fits.

Check out George Benson. Great jazz guitarist IMO and his songs are very upbeat.

I think you should search more in the "Funk" Genre, assuming you want something fairly upbeat. Cant name specific artists right now though....

Bob james's first album Natilus it think it is called is AWSOME. Ghostface killer samples a couple of songs off of that album.

Oh and the godmother of all jazz: Nina Simone!
