I am looking to purchase a DSLR with video function.
Anyone with experience using either the Nikon D90, Nikon D5000, or Canon T1, please post what you like/dislike about your cameras (both photo and video functions).

I have not used a DSLR before, so I'm not sure if D90 would be too much for me and I think I will likely be using the automatically modes the most (since I only use the Auto functions in my digital camera).

Thanks in advance!!!

I just got the D90. I was comparing it versus the D5000 and Canon 500D, and I think it's better than both. The screen is much better than the D5000, better kit lens (if you get the kit), and just feels a lot better. Plus it's only ~$150 more than the D5000.

The Canon just didn't feel good to me, shot pretty good though, but I've been using Nikon camera's and don't really like how the Canon's controls are laid out.

For $150 difference, it is pretty tough not to go with the D90. As a fromer D80 owner, that's the direction I would go in this situation.

Definitely go with the D90, it's still got "Auto" and "P" modes for while your learning, and won't hold you back as you get more into photography. Also, the D90 can wirelessly trigger flashes, has better AF, better build, etc. If you can afford it, the D90 is significantly better than the D5000 or Canon 500D/T1 in pretty well every respect and well worth the $150 premium.

I paid $861.11 for my D90 body only new with a bag, tripod, 8GB card and extra battery last week... but I got it in Hong Kong haha. That's cheaper than a D5000 here.

D90 + 18-105 VR: 1349.99
70-300VR: $538.87
Decent 8GB SD Card: $100

If he got the 70-300VR he got a fair price. If he got the regular 70-300 G, he did not :)

I'm in the market for an SLR as well. I'm set on getting the Canon but waiting for the best pricing for one. Best Buy has the T1i with 18-55 IS and EF-S 55-250 IS kit for $1149.99. I haven't seen it any lower, it is usually $1249.99.
Is this a good deal?
