Too bad the damage model looks like it sucks ass.

When I smash a wall in a game that bills itself as the ultimate simulator, it's game over. Bent suspension, cooling, etc... like the Papyrus NASCAR and IndyCar games. The closest we have to that is iRacing, and it's awesome. When I hit the wall at 160 km/h, I want to see parts flying and the car crunch. iRacing does it pretty well, but it still needs wings breaking off cars instead of bending and front wings getting torn to shreds by tires, like the good old days in IndyCar Racing II.

Here's some iRacing crashes.

rFactor has some AWESOME crashes.

Awful crash physics. This is why I haven't touched racing games for a while now.

They should call this 'Gran Turismo Forever' since it's taking forever to be released.

Looks pretty good but that is not coming out this year. The PSP version has been coming out for like 4-5 years now.

Warning- stupid question below. I almost feel embarrased to ask, but this is pretty much the first GT game I've ever played.

I bought Prologue for my PS3 and am planning to get the full game, but GT5P, in arcade/2P mode, I can only use cars that I have already unlocked. I'm not 100% sure, but I thought it wasn't restricted in previous GT games...is it going to be the same way in the full version of GT5?

I don't care when it comes out. I'm a die hard fan. I wonder if you can actually paint the cars, and all that fancy stuff. I'd love to have a replica of mine. I'll be buying a PS3 for this, and finally completing my basement.

Even if they could, I don't think they'd want 100% realistic crash physics, since any slight run-in with a wall or other vehicle would screw up your car. The game still needs to be fun to play. If you want total realism, become a race car driver.

From the vids that zedge posted, it looks like they worked quite hard on modeling accurate crash damage (the door hanging open is sweet :D ).

No, no... we DO want 100% accurate modeleing. At least include the option.

Become a race car driver? Okay... because a $69.99 game and a season budget of $100K + are comparable. That's the POINT of video games.

Thats like saying everyone who like COD should sign up for the army.

But in cod you can get shot a couple times, and after 5 seconds you're good to go. :whocares:

agreed, the gameplay would become too frustrating otherwise

I think having the option would be cool, but the thing is, GT5 is a huge seller for Sony and they need to make it as accessible to everybody as possible. It's already taken them forever to release it, add in 100% realistic damage and we might not see this game for another year and at the end of the day, less than 10% of people will end up using that option.

Damage looks pretty good but will it have an effect on driving? That subura looks like its handling and driving like it did fresh off the line.

As for 100% realism that would be awesome but we would probably see PS4 come out before this game if they did that.

crash modeling is way better in forza they have had 2 generations of games already to perfect it tho but visually this looks amazing.
