If you have purchased custom made orthodics from a podiatrist, please post the price you paid for them. I'm trying to find the cheapest podiatrist to get them - assuming they're not low quality.

Thank you!

Mold them to your feet in a non-weight bearing position.

Do you NEED a medical one?

I just ask because I use those type that you heat up in the oven, shove in your shoe, and stand for a few minutes to let them form to your foot. They were about $40, and last a year.

They do the trick for me 90% of the time. My feet used to hurt like hell before them, and now the only way my feet get sore is when I'm on the hangar floor for too long (6' of solid flat concrete is about the worst working surface you can get)

The guy from Kensington said $350 which is pretty good. However he is not a registered podiatrist. But the student health care plan would cover $300.

I need new medical ones. I had flat feet and I put too much pressure on my heels and that causes the bone on the inside of the foot to stick out.

Recently a muscle near the lower shin is experiencing pain.

The only guy I trust with my feet is Stan @ Color Code Insoles (right across from Taj Mahal Restaurant, next to Cell-Tell Wireless).

I personally would never EVER use or promote the use of molds/in-store budget insoles. Molds and other ghetto fixes are a bandage solution. Yes they may feel good...but your feet are still the same. Continued use of these items can cause further damage and lead to chronic issues including tendon/muscle damage, calcification, restricted movement etc. The right approach is to CORRECT the problem you have with your feet.

Stan @ Color Code is an old school doc, handmakes his stuff on site, and he explains everything as he goes along. Frequent follow up allows for adjustments/further correction to progressively fix the underlying issue.

Cost is approx $500. I recommend him to any of my friends that are having serious issues with their feet. My mom has been seeing him for probably over 10 years and I just started this year. Already within 8 months I have noticed significant relief and the calcified mass on my tendon has begun to break down as it is no longer a stress point. Essentially my feet have been re-shaped in the matter of 8 months.

You mention you want the CHEAPEST orthotics.
Here's something to think about....how much do you spend on a set of tires/oil changes etc per year??? Do you use synethetic oil or garbage no-name crap? What kind of tires are you using? No name-or Toyos? If there is something wrong with your feet don't you think you should be taking care of them the PROPER way too?

I said cheapest assuming the same quality from each podiatrist.

As long as it does the job, I don't care about the brand.

Mind you the guy in Kensington is not a registered podiatrist.

Has anyone here got their orthodicts from him?

This raises concern because of the following statements on his website:

"At Kensington Foot Orthotics, we specialize in the use of Superfeet™."

"Superfeet™ are the only orthotics made completely in the non-weight bearing position, without the use of plaster casting."

Actually the student plan doesn't cover orthodics. Only Orthopaedic shoes.

I highly recommend Calgary Foot Clinic.

Ive dealt with Ken Unger but all the docs have good reps. Check out the bios. Go to a foot specialist and not a chiropractor who sells orthotics to increase the income of their clinic. You could have other foot problems and not need orthotics and a chiro would never catch this.

I went to Achilles Foot Clinic, it's right on center and 16th. Same as the prices mentioned above ~500

i had a set maybe 10 years ago...about 4 or 500 as well
picked them up at some clinic on 16th and centre

for the record i haven't used them for the past 5 or 6 years. i didn't notice much of a difference especially in areas that the podiatrist said the orthotics would remedy
