McLaren's are fast again in FP1, but Brawn's up there with McLaren (1st and 4th).

Luca's cruising in his Ferrari learning the track. WAY off the pace.

Alonso ran a couple smokin' laps to come out on top. Hamilton spun early on and damaged his car. McLaren put new parts on it for qualifying. I'm a little upset that Jaime finished below Luca. Grosjean put down a really good time for a noob. I -really- look forward to qualifying.

Back in action at a race meeting for the first time in a decade, Badoer had clearly forgotten how to operate the speed-limiter button on his steering wheel as he racked up four separate penalties for driving too fast in the pit lane during Friday's practice sessions for Sunday's European Grand Prix.

The 38-year-old Italian was hit with fines totalling 5,400 euros and issued with a reprimand for his repeated offending, which soured a day long dreamt of by the veteran Ferrari test driver.

Looks like the Brawns got their pace back. Rosberg is on pace to hit points again. Don't think Alonso will be making points tomorrow morning...

Grosjean has done really well in practice and qualifying. Better than Jaime. I just hope he doesn't get too aggressive and take somebody else out with him.

What's sick is that the 2 McL's aborted their last laps, which was 0.5s faster by S2 lol. The 2 times were set a few laps before the end, when they were heavier. Too bad they didn't have this kinda pace at the beginning of the year.

In Q1, McLarens were on the top using the soft tires, while nearly everyone else had to set their times on the super soft options. McLaren's gonna run away from everyone tomorrow. It's not even gonna be close.

Buemi cut the chicane and popped out behind Trulli, who turned and blew up Buemi's front wing. Grosjean also had front end damage. Badoer spun.

Hamilton's pace is a full second faster than Barrichello's, and Button isn't having very much luck either. My pool picks are based on Barrichello having a shitty start and Button taking his position :(

rage2
08-23-2009, 06:15 AM
As predicted, McLaren's are pulling away. ~1sec a lap faster than the Brawns. Hamilton's not even trying.

Button keeps falling backwards. Hope for no points. Hamilton for WDC! Still mathematically possible!

Sorry, forgot to mention it loaded just as the race started.

Interesting point on it too, you think McLaren could be using Kovi to slow Barrichello up?

LOL Grosjean.

Then again Button is out of the top 8 right now.. :whipped:

rage2
08-23-2009, 06:23 AM
Barichello can't even catch Kovy, so the answer is no. Kovy is racing for his 2010 race seat this weekend, so I doubt he'd try and slow anyone down.

Mibz
08-23-2009, 06:23 AM
I got ballsy and threw Sutil in 8th. Even if he does manage to get it, I think my Button pick will have fucked me.

EDIT: Actually, considering his fuel load, Sutil is going well.

DJ Lazy
08-23-2009, 06:25 AM
Are the Mclarens gonna be able to pass Rubens after the pit stop? Bad track for overtaking... Ham certainly doesn't have a full stop lead yet..

DJ Lazy
08-23-2009, 06:48 AM
Is hamiltons short wheel base version of the car really this much faster than Kovys? or is it just hamiltons better? lol

Mibz
08-23-2009, 06:51 AM
Little bit of column A, little bit of column B. I don't think there's any doubt that Hamilton's a better driver. He said that they didn't have a chance to fix an oversteer issue with his shorter wheelbase so his car isn't really "complete" for this race either. At least that's what he claims, and I suppose they could have tried something between qualifying and the race that worked.

LOLOLOLOL @ BADOER

It's like amateur hour this morning!

rage2
08-23-2009, 06:53 AM
This is gonna be close... Hamilton and Barichello's laptimes are nearly identical.

DJ Lazy

Fuck Rubens is quick today.. :(

Kovy is struggling in S3 all day... always seems to be about 2-3 tenths slower than Bar and Ham

Mibz
08-23-2009, 06:57 AM
Brutal lap by Kovi... With Kimi maintaining pace he can't afford any more of those.

EDIT: He gives up position and then gets a drive-through penalty! Badoer is the biggest joke I've ever seen

rage2
08-23-2009, 06:57 AM
Badoer might get a penalty too for running over the white line, while letting the Renault pass.

Ferrari looks so stupid right now, especially when Luca Di Montezemolo stated in the press that Badoer might actually win this race... an Italian winning for Ferrari. Too funny lol.

edit - drive thru penalty haha.

Just give it a few laps. During FP, The Brawns lost a lot of pace after 4 or 5 laps and struggled hard on the SS's.

08-23-2009, 07:16 AM
Hamilton needs a half second per lap just to catch up.

42 points in the pool. 2nd personal best of the season. Gotta look on the bright side I guess haha.

Only 28 points this week WTF :banghead:

At least Lewis didn't win haha. It could have been close if he had a better pit stop.
I liked Ross's radio transmission to Rubens after the race; "just like old times"

I am excited to see if RedBull brings KERS next week.

And Alonso's Ferrari drive is pretty much confirmed after this week. Ferrari's end of season party has been moved from Modena to Valencia, Flavio seen in and out of the Ferrari hospitality suite, and Santander coming on as a sponsor next year.
