my sister's laptop has a usb external 3.5 floppy.. when she tries to get shit from her floppy drive, windows says this.

"the disk in drive A is not formatted properly, please check the disk and reformat if necessary"

any ideas? reminds of me the low/high density shit way back in the days, but i doubt that's the problem.. ????

Check to see if you are using the right drivers for your particular OS. Your drivers might not be the XP certified, but the device is still showing up in the system.
Check to see if the disks work in any other machine or if its an isolated problem with just the laptop.
I have seen this before. Kinda sounds like a DOS density problem like you said ;) or a Unix mount issue. Crazy Windoze...
